The Agrarian Committee Held an Offsite Session in Zugdidi
An offsite session of the Agrarian Committee of the Parliament of Georgia was held in the city of Zugdidi. During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the 2025 report and future plans of Georgian Amelioration LLC under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
According to the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Agrarian Committee, Gela Samkharauli, particular attention in the legislative sphere will be given to improving and updating the existing regulatory framework, in order to better reflect modern requirements for the management of both irrigation and drainage systems.
The meeting was attended by the State Representative in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Davit Verava, Members of Parliament, and representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, as well as local authorities.
The General Director of Georgian Amelioration LLC, Gigla Tamazashvili, presented the current situation in the sector, achieved results, and existing challenges. The discussion focused on ongoing state projects aimed at the rehabilitation, modernization, and development of modern irrigation and drainage infrastructure.
As noted by Gigla Tamazashvili, within the framework of the reorganization process launched in 2025, significant changes were implemented in both central and regional structures. New functional and qualitative directions were established, which substantially improve operational processes and enhance customer-oriented services.
The meeting also addressed plans for 2026. It was noted that a commercial process planning and administration system will be introduced, along with the implementation of a dispatch monitoring system and the establishment of new offices.
