A presentation of the book ''The 1924 Anti-Soviet National Uprising in the Zugdidi Region'' was held in Zugdidi

March 9, 1921, is the day of the occupation of Zugdidi by Bolshevik Russia. A presentation of the book “The Anti-Soviet National Uprising of 1924 in the Zugdidi Region”, published in connection with the 100th anniversary of the 1924 uprising, was held at the Dadiani Nikoseli Palace.
The book was published with the financial support of the Zugdidi City Hall.
In the book, Doctor of History Levan Jikia describes in detail the events that took place a century ago - the prerequisites for the preparation of the uprising, the actual hostilities, and the reasons for the defeat of the uprising. A separate chapter describes the repressive policy. The book publishes archival materials for the first time, which bring innovations to Georgian historiography.
The event was attended by Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti State Representative David Verava, Zugdidi Mayor Mamuka Tsokri, members of the Sakrebulo faction "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia", descendants of the 1924 rebels, and representatives of various sectors of society.
Among the speakers were students from Shota Meskhia Zugdidi State University, who brought to life the stories of their rebellious descendants.
Today, government representatives laid a wreath at the memorial to the 1924 uprising.
