Report of the State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti

The  State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Alexander Mosterelia presented the 2019 year report to the public at Zugdidi Technopark.

According to Alexander Motserelia, in 2019 year  in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti were implemented 1565 infrastructure projects. The value of which is more than 400 million GEL. Among them, 1061 projects were implemented within the framework of Rural Support Program and the projects were selected by the villagers at the village meetings.

In 2019, across the region 250 kilometers of roads were constructed and rehabilitated.  7 bridges rehabilitated and 12 bridges will be built.

Large-scale projects for water supply, sewage systems and cleaning facilities are being implemented in Zugdidi, Poti, Mestia, Abasha, Jvari and Anaklia. The 102 km drainage canal was cleaned and repaired.

Gasification works are actively ongoing in Chkhorotsku and Tsalenjikha.  In  Mestia Municipality  two villages Heshkili and Khalde were  without electro energy, now this problem solved and  supply them electricity. Completed  2 and underway 24 ambulatory construction. 23 outpatient clinics were rehabilitated. Emergency centers have been built in Abasha and Martvili, and 7 more are under construction. Municipalities have funded 30 578 beneficiaries with 9 million GEL within the frames of Health and Social Care Programs. In the nearest future apartments will be given to 360 IDP families. In  addition, 14 new kindergartens will be built. Rehabilitation -construction process of health facilities will continue in 2020. 

An additional five 12-stored apartment buildings are being built in Zugdidi for IDPs, thus resolving the housing problem of up to 1,000 IDP families.

Public transport will be resumed, Zugdidi purchased 15 new buses this year. Next year 25 new buses will be transferred to Zugdidi and 10 buses to Poti. Promoting  a healthy lifestyle  is important  for young generation, for that construction and rehabilitation of sports facilities and playgrounds will be intensified next year.

The second phase of Zugdidi and Poti stadiums construction works will be completed in 2020, design works are currently underway - Zugdidi will have a youth center and a modern library named after Zviad Gamsakhurdia.
