Public Consideration of the draft Constitutional Changes in Zugdidi

The Steering Commission on Public Consideration and Promulgation of the draft Constitutional Changes and the draft Constitutional Law on Autonomous Republic of Adjara held the meeting with Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti population in Youth and Pupil Palace of Zugdidi .

The Speaker, Archil Talakvadze welcomed the attendees and together with the Members of Parliament entroduced the draft law. At the meeting attended by the State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, the Deputies, different spheres of society, local authorities, administering team, representatives of opposition parties and the constitutionalists.  

The constitutional amendments envisages  holding the parliamentary elections under the proportional system with the zero threshold and without election blocs by 2020. However, according to the draft low, the transitional provisions of the constitution removed  3% electoral threshold and blocks of political parties.
