Prime Minister and the State Representative have met with local farmers

Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze, the State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Alexander Motserelia and Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili have met with farmers in Zugdidi and summarized the results of and Hazelnut Survival and insect fighting Program.

As a result of the cooperation between of the state, farmers, private sector and donor organizations, the number of Asian bugs has been drastically reduced in West Georgia.

After the meeting with farmer, Prime Minister of Georgia visited Hazelnut Enterprise “Geo-Nats” and got acquainted the process of getting and processing of nuts. The meeting was attended by Acting Ambassador of the United States Elizabeth Rudd.

Ltd “Geo Nats” established within the framework of the United Agro Project and total of 2 780 000 GEL investment have been carried out so far. Up to 7 000-10 000 tons of hazelnuts and hazelnut products are available to produce in GeoNuts.  All the products are for export. 100 people are employed in The enterprise.
