The State Representative observed the nut plants for demonstration

The State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Alexander Motserelia along with the scientists observed the nut demonstration plots.

A farmer Aza Bechvaia owns a 3-hectares hazelnut garden in the Village Shamgona, Zugdidi municipality. She has been following the agriculture and plant protection treatment instructions and recommendations of experts of the Research Center of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and specialists of the National Food Agency. As a result of proper treatment this year the farmer Aza Bechvaia is expecting high quality nut harvest and she advises the farmers to follow instructions of agriculture calendar. Besides that, the government is actively supporting hazelnut protection actions.

Program - "Save Nut Harvest" is being implemented of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture USA International Development Agency (USAID), Ferrero and CNFA with the support of "Nuts Sector Development Project," which considers provisioning number of treatment activities and recommendations of specialists against fungal infection and pests.  

Fogging machines have been granted and handed over to Georgian Hazelnut Growers Association by Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture within the framework of the program “Save Nut Harvest” which have been also available for farmers to conduct agrarian works in their fields.
