Governor discussed anti-pest Activities and Future Plans with the American expert

The anti-pest activities and future plans were discussed at the Coordination HQ for the Pest Control.

Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Alexander Motserelia, Governor of Imereti Shavleg Tabatadze, Governor of Guria Zurab Nasaraia and Mayor of Abasha Levan Makalatia attended the meeting in Abasha Municipality.

The organizers of the National Food Agency and Coordination HQ have provided Governors with information about the events, results and future plans for fighting pests. Monitoring is actively underway in the regions, "carry and destroy" stations and spraying works. Meetings are regularly held and population is provided with information about mechanical methods.

It has been emphasized that the pollution of the pest is decreased compared to last year and it is important to share successful examples of individual municipalities. In Abasha Municipality, as a result of so-called Angel Massive, the corn harvest has been kept and economic loss has been avoided.

The meeting also focused on the situation in the field of nut production, indicating that the nut harvest is mainly caused by fungal diseases. Once again, the importance of the involvement of the population, the use of foil and mechanical methods and the role of self-governing units in the process of combating pests has been emphasized.

Greg Kravchuk, Professor of the University of Pennsylvania, USA, also attended the meeting in the Coordination HQ, which is familiar with the situation in western Georgia. According to his assessment, compared to last year the situation and approach of the population have significantly altered.

In order to fight against the Asian Bugs, the state has cultivated 611 thousand hectares of cold spray and thermal fuels technology. Among them: in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 255 005 hectares; In Imereti region - 197 655 hectares, in Guria region - 135 hectares; In Adjara Autonomous Republic - 21 234 hectares.
