Coordination headquarters against Asian Bugs in Abasha Municipality

Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Zurab Alavidze and Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Region Levan Shonia inspected the process of countering Asian Farosana's activities in Western Georgia. Zurab Patadze, Chairman of Adjara government, Guria Governor Merab Chanukvadze and First Deputy Governor of Imereti Grigol Dalakishvili also visited Samegrelo region to plan future events.

An extendet session was held at the Coordination HQ in Abasha Municipality, the Coordination Staff supervises the planning and implementation of the events.

They also viewed special technique mobilized in the region, which will be distributed in different municipalities. 140 units of special equipment will be planned for the anti-pest prevention program in the country this year. This year the State will take measures against state owned territories and private lands where special techniques are needed.

According to the 2018 strategy, every resource is mobilized to take measures against the pest timely and efficiently-the minister Datiashvili said.

"The anti-Asian campaign has moved into an active phase. Coordination headquarters in Western Georgia are already functioning. Today we have invited the heads of the regions to conduct coordinated field control work. Special techniques are mobilized and phytosanitary  activities have been significantly  increased this year for which the state has provided significant funding. More than 100 crews will work to ensure that our activities are as effective as possible. All the information is gathered in the headquarters and the field work is planned after processing. Five field headquarters will work in western Georgia, which will coordinate coordination headquarters in Abasha municipality. At the same time, we have already launched a field monitoring system that covers the whole territory and will receive data from 100 thousand points in order to have operative information on pest spread and population, "said Levan Davitashvili.

Other means and preparations needed for events have already been mobilized in west Georgia  and  will be distributed according to regions. Chemical measures will be planned according to the monitoring results. Monitoring systems will be located throughout the country as well as in Western and Eastern Georgia. The installation of pheromones has already begun in Western Georgia.
